Traditionally Building Industry Employers of New York State (“BIE”) has supported legislative initiatives which not only benefit construction industry employers and the construction industry in general but which also are in the best interest of project owners and the taxpayers of New York.
Collaborating & Reforming
BIE has collaborated with other industry partners over the decades in our effort to advocate for construction employers across New York State. Issues of importance have included workers compensation, support of capital investment in infrastructure repair to roads and bridges, supporting the State University of New York’s long-term capital investment plan on construction projects at SUNY campuses throughout New York State and reform of New York’s antiquated labor laws, specifically Sections 240/241 (scaffold laws).
A Voice for Change
Advocating for construction employers and the construction industry remains an important legislative service BIE provides members. BIE welcomes feedback from members on other legislative issues which may be affecting construction employers throughout the state of New York.
